We are delighted to announce the award of an exciting new project at the Thames Young Mariners community building, located in Ham, Surrey.
Situated adjacent to a picturesque 10-acre lake on a stunning 25-acre estate between
Richmond and Kingston, this site is a hub for outdoor learning, recreation, and community engagement.
Working on behalf of Surrey County Council and in close partnership with the project team at Macro, this project will deliver a much-needed upgrade to the centre’s kitchen facilities. The comprehensive refurbishment will bring the kitchen up to modern commercial standards, ensuring the site can continue to play its vital role for years to come.
With a tight schedule and ambitious targets, this fast-track project involves the full strip-out of the existing kitchen, wash-up area, corridor, dry food store, and staff WC. The work will include the removal of all mechanical and electrical systems, alongside demolition of some internal walls to create a more efficient and functional layout.
Once the demolition phase is complete, the team will construct new internal stud walls, install upgraded doors, and replace all internal linings, flooring, and finishes to meet today’s commercial kitchen standards.
The extensive M&E works include for the installation of a new ventilation system, upgraded lighting, power systems, an automated roller shutter and the relocation of a new sub-distribution board to ensure optimal efficiency and safety
The transformed kitchen will incorporate high-spec appliances and equipment, with some existing items carefully reinstalled to ensure sustainability and continuity.
The Thames Young Mariners site is a vital asset for local residents. This transformation will not only modernise the facilities but also enhance the overall experience for staff, visitors, and students who rely on the centre for learning and recreation.
We are excited to be a part of this journey - which commences in January 2025 - and look forward to seeing this refreshed space in action!
