Today, we celebrate International Men's Day. MCS is proud to stand in solidarity with men around the world and celebrate the positive contributions men bring to the world, their families and communities, and also raise awareness of men’s well-being.
As part of our commitment to supporting our employees, customers, and communities, we are shedding light on an often-overlooked aspect of men's health: male menopause, also known as andropause.
Andropause refers to age-related hormonal changes that can impact men’s physical, emotional, and mental health, typically around middle age. Symptoms of andropause, such as fatigue, irritability, depression, and reduced libido, can be challenging but are often underreported and undertreated.
As a company committed to fostering wellness, MCS is raising awareness of this life stage journey and providing support to colleagues navigating these changes.
MCS’s Construction Manager and Mental Health First Aider, Will Frampton, said: "At MCS, we believe that health and wellness should be an inclusive conversation. We know that men’s health needs unique attention and are committed to supporting men by offering resources, encouraging open discussions, and normalising the experiences of andropause."
In alignment with our commitment, MCS has established the following initiatives:
Education and Awareness: To raise awareness about andropause, we have launched an informational campaign that includes educational materials and resources for our employees. These materials aim to break down the stigma associated with male hormonal health changes and empower men to seek support.
Health Support Programs: Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) includes dedicated resources for those experiencing andropause symptoms, with access to healthcare professionals specialising in men’s hormonal health and mental well-being.
Wellness in the Workplace: As part of our ongoing wellness initiative, we host seminars and workshops focusing on men’s health, mental wellness, and healthy aging. These sessions are designed to encourage open dialogue, provide valuable health insights, and equip men with strategies to manage hormonal changes effectively.
By fostering an environment where men feel supported and informed, MCS strives to make a lasting impact on men’s health and well-being.
