Old Woking Community Centre Officially Opens

On Wednesday 8th November 2023, the newly refurbished and extended centre was officially opened by a host of civic dignitaries, Woking College Principal, community centre volunteers and stakeholders.

The group listened to speeches of thanks from Ian Tomes, Strategic Asset Manager at Woking Borough Council and Brett Freeman, Principal of Woking College, before taking a tour of the newly completed building, followed by commemorative group photography at the front of the new building.

Councillor Raja, Mayor of Woking; Councillor Hussain, Surrey County Council Chairman and Councillor Forster were all in attendance to mark and celebrate the completion of the project; which would not have been possible were it not for the harmonious close collaboration between all the funding partners, including: Old Woking Community Centre, Woking Borough Council, Woking College and Surrey County Council

Managing Director, Justin Whiteman, said “This is a wonderful moment for the whole community. As a result of funding, fundraising and careful planning the whole community has a fantastic, accessible, new building boasting many sustainable features. This building can now be enjoyed for many years to come in support of many cultural, educational and social community activities.”

This project was delivered in collaboration with Synergy Construction & Property Consultants, Macallan Penfold Chartered Architects, Price & Myers and J&B Hopkins Ltd.
