MCS is proud to announce its latest project, awarded by Surrey County Council, to undertake significant refurbishment works at Oakwood School’s gymnasium in Horley, Surrey. This exciting initiative, in partnership with Surrey County Council, marks another step in MCS’s ongoing commitment to deliver best quality and value into the community.
The project scope includes a range of critical upgrades aimed at modernising the facility while ensuring safety and durability for years to come.
This project involves the erection of scaffolding for the installation of temporary roof to allow the safe removal of the existing: roof waterproofing layers, coping stones and asbestos roof deck.
Once the old materials are carefully removed, MCS will install a new structural deck, along with a state-of-the-art flat roof system featuring a high-performance felt finish. Additional works include structural enhancements with the installation of Heli bars for reinforcement and various brickwork repairs to restore the gym’s exterior.
Inside the gym, electrical enabling works will be undertaken to ensure safe working conditions, followed by the application of an intumescent coating on the internal beams, providing enhanced fire resistance and aesthetic appeal.
Externally, MCS will also address surface water drainage, incorporating new outlets into the flat roof to improve water management and prevent future issues.
This project is due to commence in November 2024.
