Contract Award - Epsom Library

We are delighted to be working with Surrey County Council on the transformational redevelopment and modernisation of Surrey’s libraries. These works will ensure that local libraries are fit for 21st Century public use by the creation of new flexible spaces to be used for a variety of purposes and functions.

Our initial D&B project involves a budget of £1.5 million designated for the refurbishment of the first-floor library area of Epsom Library situated in Epsom Square, Epsom.

Working in collaboration with AtkinsRéalis and Turner & Townsend, MCS will carry out the careful strip out of the existing library and carry out extensive MEP works to the roof. The new services will be routed into the new facility layout when the refurbishment of the agile area commences and will include new decorations, floor finishes and the installation of new FF&E.

These essential upgrades are required to refresh old equipment and to cater for the intensified use of these spaces, bring in line with current standards, decarbonise the areas and improve energy use in line with the Council’s Greener Futures objectives.

These works are due to commence in July 2024 and will be phased to facilitate the operational requirements of the library.
