We are delighted to be back at Cranleigh CofE Primary School, working on behalf of Surrey County Council to transform the school grounds. This project involves the careful demolition of the disused HORSA huts, making way for a new asphalt play surface designed to enhance both safety and accessibility for students.
To efficiently manage logistics on this compact site, the groundwork is progressing in two carefully planned phases. Phase one is already well underway, with significant progress made. The reduce dig has been successfully completed, followed by the installation of a protective membrane and layering of crushed material to establish a solid foundation.
At the same time, we have installed the attenuation tank, a key component in improving drainage. In the coming weeks, excavation work will commence for the pump installation, followed by the construction of its surrounding chamber. Additionally, a slit trench will be created to establish a seamless connection between the pump and the attenuation tank.
With this essential infrastructure in place, we will move into phase two of the slab groundwork. This next stage includes another reduced dig, membrane installation, and further layering of crushed material to ensure a robust base. Once complete, the site will be ready for the final asphalt surfacing and line painting - bringing the new play area to life.
Scheduled for completion in the spring, this transformation will modernise the school’s outdoor space, providing students with a smooth, durable, and well-drained play surface that will stand the test of time. We look forward to delivering this much-needed improvement for the school community.
